Byodo-in Temple
September 1, 2008
Am I in Japan? No, still in Hawaii. =P I think this is one of Hawaii's "off the beaten track" attractions because even I did not know about this place until I saw it on a postcard when I was postcard hunting for my postcard exchange hobby. When I saw the postcard, I was wondering what it was and where it was. I wanted to visit this temple. I did some research on Saint Google. =P
This is the Byodo-in temple located in Valley of the Temples in Kaneohe at the Windward side of O`ahu. I learned that this temple is a replica of the one in Uji, Japan. Also, for all of you Lost fans out there, this is where they filmed an episode of Lost. (Don't ask because I don't watch that show. They did film across from where I live a few times. Anyway, yeah that was a bit random). The entrance fee is cheap ($2 USD). Parking was easy to find when I came here but I think this attraction could be more popular than before. There were one or two tour buses when I went there. This was the first time I visited the Byodo-in temple and it is nice and tranquil. Definitely do not mind going back to that temple. Besides, Kaneohe is one of my favorite places on the island. =)
