Salt Lake City - TRAX
August 14, 2007
I spent in Salt lake City almost 3 weeks (not in a row but still it was some time to knoe the city itself and the light railway, which is called TRAX here, some call it 'tram' as well). My temporary home here in the town was at Sugar House (i've never seen here such a house, but it's maybe only the borough name). From home i had to ride 23 block northbound and then 15 westbound to get to the downtown - so even if this is not THAT far away - it took about 30minutes by bike to get there. You have to remember that i was in Salt Lake City in summer, and this summer was kinda hot - about 95F-102F!!! It was an efford to ride in the full sun such long way. This was the reason why i sometimes used to go back home with LRT (Sandy-train, southbound) just to make the way shorter of few dozens of blocks. (unfortunately they haven't built the Sugar-House-extension yet, but it is in planning stage, good for them!)
But, the best part of the LRT route was the University line, cuz its terminus (and i rode there sometimes too, in order to visit my cousin at work) was much higher than the downtown. I rode it up by train and went down by bike, which was really fun!
