Me and the map
As for tourists the metro and skytrain in Bangkok are totally useless. It's rally surprising, why all the lines stop far away from the Old Town and all those beautifull places? Is it maybe because for citizens the 'city centre' is somewhere else? Not in old part of town?
Anyways, we stayed at the hostel right at the station of sky train, and from our room we could see the trains on the elevated passing by so nicely with this cool sound when accelerating. SO it seemed the best location for us, but... we couldnt use the metro - coz it didnt go to temples, palaces or main attractions. Instead of we had to use buses, tuk-tuks and even boats. For the mentioned reasons the metro in Bangkok with its 3 lines is maybe the most weird system i've ever been to.

I hope they will extend all the three lines toward Old Town.
Beside of that, it's probably the coldest system, u can really rest there after walking in the hot air outside. And they have nice trains too! Unfortunately many trains are covered with ads, even on the windows so when u r inside the train, u cant see actually anything. That sucks!

The weird/funny story about Bangkok metro system is this:
I went with RJ to the roof-garden on top of the hostel, at night time to watch the passing trains from above with all those lights of the city. I wanted take some pics with the trains. I leaned against the bar of the balcony and ... got an electro shock! The neon light gave me the electro-stroke! ahhaahhaha but i survived, i had that several times since my childhood so i'm kinda used to it:)))

I'm not agree

I have been 2 weeks in Bangkok and I have used the skytrain to go everywhere.

Skytrain + Ferry(13 Bahts) = Covers almost the whole Bangkok

On the other hand I'm agree about only with skytrain you can't do it!
