The first ride on Berlin's metro/subway was a cheatting. I shouldn't write about this event right here since it's not fair, but it was so! At that time a had to spare my money so every safed Pfennig (=cent at the time when a german Mark=100 Pfennig) Without a ticket i rode the line U7 from Zoologischer Garten to Südstern and then back. I was so scared that i might be asked suddenly by the staff, to show my ticket, that the journey seemed to be the longest in my life (not about 20minutes but at least few hours ;) I saw in every man entering the train at each station the control-stuff. But i was lucky. There are not so many controllers there at all. Since this 'first time' i rode Berlins metro maybe about 50 times (or even more, how could i have counted it) and i never saw anybody to ask for tickets to passangers... but since then i have ever my ticket ;).
The pics i post here are almost current ones from my last visit (Dec.2007) From the 'cheatted ride' there are no pics at all;)
