After 2 hours i landed in Frankfurt/Main. Lay-over 4 hours, on my way to United-Statian-Land, what to do?
First i got my boarding cards by American Airlines, because for some
reason they werent able to print them for me in Poznan. Then i checked
again my flight status and got on the S-Bahn to city centre. Its just
11 minutes ride by suburban train from the airport. The station at the airport didnt look very inviting. At the main station I changed to metro
(U-Bahn) and rode the Frankfurt metro for like 2 hours maybe. It was
good coz it was warm and outside just horrible winter with the white
sh*** lying everywhere. Needless to say i had my fun and the time
passed fast, so i wasnt bored waiting at the airport somewhere in the
corner on a bench for the upcoming conecting flight. The Frankfurter U-Bahn is totaly different of what you can find in us-cities. It's full metro standard in the centre (means, underground stretch without any crossings with other transport - fully independent) and in the suburbs more like LRT standards - street level crossings, and slower than a real train. Unlike in USA and Canada, where they operate most of the times the LRT in downtown on the street level with mix-traffic with cars and out of downtown they run usually independent - on the own tracks... which is pretty wierd and it makes the central part of the system very slow and and often disturbed by cars.
