Pretty Bruges

Pretty is the most appropriate word to use for Bruges - it really is, with it's picturesque canals, quaint houses and winding cobbled streets. An afternoon here is enough to see most of the town, which is best experienced by foot. The cathedral towards the central train station holds the only statue by Michelangelo outside of Italy (Madonna and Child), and it is unobtrusively displayed near the front (minus the usual bullet-proof glassing seen in St Peter's Basilica!). Walking along the canals was the best part of Bruges for me, everywhere you look it's a kodak moment, and the treats they sell in the little stores along the way are great, my favourite definitely was the almond bread - sweet crunchy (non) goodness!
