Orchard Garden Hotel San Francisco
San Francisco's Orchard Garden Hotel, located at 466 Bush Street, on Union Square, is very green - In more than one way. It was the first hotel in San Francisco to be certified green, as in offering a sufficiently eco-friendly experience for guests, not to mention the disposal and production practices adopted by the hotel's staff. In their own words, 'The Orchard Garden’s ‘green’ practices include chemical-free cleaning products, a 100% tobacco-free environment, recycled paper and soy-based inks. The Orchard Garden Hotel proudly debuts San Francisco’s first guestroom key card energy control system, similar to European and Asian systems!'
The rooms are spacious, with wall mounted flat screen television, one King size bed or two double beds, a massive workdesk, high sped and wi-fi internet, in-room safe, a mini-bar refrigirator, hair dryer, iron & ironing board, organic bath products, coffee and tea maker, valet parking, conceirge services and complimentary town car to the financial district. A 3 day stay for a full family of two adults and two children, in one of the Superior Double Rooms would cost a total of $987 plus tax. So it comes to about $329 per night for the full family. And this includes free breakfast.
Besides all this, the hotel also has this roof-top garden which serves delicious organic food in a romantic setting. And you can get a bicycle to go on bike rides around San Francisco. That's how green this hotel is.
So if you want to take the family on a San Francisco vacation, and not harm the environment, buy carbon offsets for your travel, put at one of the San Francisco family hotels which also happen to be green, and situated in a central location somewhere in between Union Square and Nob Hill, you don't have much of a choice, except for one or two hotels, such as the Triton and the Orchard Garden Hotel.
