Let's Sleep Inn Silicon Valley San Jose

Almost home after a a journey across the Golden State which took us from San Diego to San Francisco and Monterey, Palm Springs, South Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada and Sacramento and back to LA, but kids still have a yen for some more exploration and don't seem to be ready for home, so we decided to take a short halt, or more accurately, a 'Sleep Inn' at San Jose.

Its an ideal location for short stays when you land up in Silicon Valley for a business trip or when you're on your through San Jose with family. Located about 40 miles from the San Jose International Airport, with the Espana and Morazan Parks right in front of the hotel, the Sleep Inn provides a range of amenities and freebies including a complimentary breakfast with waffles and an airport shuttle, free local calls and coffee and a well equipped fitness center and a large parking lot. Not that I was looking to get any more 'exercised', what with a posse of rampaging kids and all...But its always nice to know a San Jose family hotel providing you with all kinds of stuff, including a VIP casino sitting right inside the lobby! If you're in the area with kids and time to kill, you might also want to visit the National Theatre, which is a short stroll away, and the Great Mall in Milpitas, the Children's Discovery Museum, and the HP Pavilion.

The 86 rooms and suites at Sleep Inn are quite adequately furnished with refrigirators, microwaves, coffee makers, iron & ironing board, cable TV, free internet, a large workdesk with ergonomic chairs, which is a bit of a waste, actually . I mean, come on - Who in their right mind wants to spend a vacation sitting in a hotel chair? Still, this is Silicon Valley, and most anyone who comes here is likely to be a geek, and what geeks do is sit on chairs, vacation or not. Anyway, they also have neat whirlpool tubs in the suites, so you might actually end up spending a lot of time inside the hotel, so to speak. Room rates start at $90 and suites at $119, based on two person occupancy. You can get a room large enough for a family of four, with two adults and two kids, for $99 plus taxes, which comes to a total of about $110.
