Just Desserts At Coyote Inn Palm Springs
I've seen a lot of exclusive resorts and villas in my 'travails' around California, but the Coyote Inn, in Palm Springs, gives a completely new meaning to the words privacy and luxury. A Spanish hacienda with walled and gated grounds, and only seven suites for guests, there's no way you can just walk in there, check in and get a room. Well, technically there are no rooms, so the question doesn't arise. Still, you get what I mean.
Each suite is magnificiently equipped with a full-service kitchen, fireplace, and even a small library. And you can sleep with a view of the stars and the moon (yes, you can howl at it along with the coyotes...) and wake up to the sound of birds chirping about in the lush courtyard. Even the poolside area looks like something straight out a movie set, with thatched hut umbrellas, deck chairs and a view of the mountains in the background. The comfy spa is carefully hidden away in a maze of palm trees. Additional amenities include a free video library, complimentary soft drinks and popcorn, laundry facilities, outdoor BBQ and wireless internet.
All the luxury, spaciousness, amenities, the scenic location and the discretion might make you think that this is some holiday retreat for the rich and the very-rich, but the rates are surprisingly down-to-earth, as they are in other Palm Springs family hotels. In fact, Palm Springs, and the surrounding areas including Indian Wells and Desert Springs, are on average way cheaper than SoCal and the Central Coast or the Lake Tahoe resorts. If you factor in the fact that you're visiting Palm Springs during offseason in summer, the rates go down even further, and you'll end up paying about $99 to $200 (depending on choice of suite) at the Coyote Inn. Considering that you're getting a luxury resort with a suite and a library and pool and spa and an open view of the mountains, and absolute privacy, it doesn't get much better than this. Perfect place to spend a weekend or even a full week of relaxing downtime. Advance reservations at least a couple of months in advance recommended.
