This is a fantastic place!! Finally we have some good beach weather!! I think the pacific coast in general is much drier, and we´ve had a few days of fun in the sun, bicycling to remote beaches, boogie-boarding, bodysurfing, and just generally loafing around. I (Pam) have been taking Spanish lessons here, which has been challenging, but great (but I´m soo far from fluent). The town is small and touristy, but still really great. They have been having a celebration for the virgin mary for the last few days, which has been fascinating. Eash night they take her statue down a street, with all the townspeople following, and a band playing, sometimes they do it in the middle of the night, and they visit houses that are decorated. The people in the houses give the children candy. Then they set fireworks off to celebrate the safe journey of the virgin mary.
The town is really cool. The people sit out on their stoops at night in their rocking chairs and their doors wide open.People are out in the street at night, children playing in the square, and teenagers playing soccer on the beach every night around sundown. This is really laid-back place. The beach in town is really beautiful, but the really stunning beaches are out of town.
