Was this before or after the camera got dropped?
(Jan) Lazy am (sort of) while we hung around waiting for lunchtime shuttle bus. Did kayaking which was good fun. Rob managed to drop the disposable camera in but it floated so we'll keep going with it. Good job we've got the digital as well. Some unusual (to us) birds - egrets, big cooty things with red comb and blue breast - impressive. (Rob) I got my pants very wet in the boat! Not sure if I'd wet myself due to excitement or whether I was just unfortunate!? Got chatting to some people in the hostel from Holland, Belgium and New Zealand. One guy on 2 months paid leave and another in middle of world tour. Afternoon - caught the shuttle bus to Fox Glacier - 4 hour trip through some lovely mountains and sea views. Driver also serves dual role as local taxi driver and newspaper boy much to our amusement - 'American style' - he literally threw the papers as he was passing the houses, most of them missing the target and ending up on the road. Arrived at Fox Glacier Inn. Dumped our stuff and hoofed (or the new terminology for these parts - tramped) towards the Glacier passing through jungle-like trails and stepping stones across babbling brooks and rivulets reflecting lovely shades of turqoise blues and greens
