(Jan) We lost a day crossing the international time line and landed in Auckland
at about 7am. We had a few hours to kill until our connection so caught the shuttle bus into town sharing it on the way back with a Scouse couple who have lived in Perth for 20 years. Still got the accent. Auckland very quiet that early. More coffees while we sat and gazed over the amazing yachts in the marina. A lovely flight to South Island. We arrived in Christchurch
about 2pm absolutely shattered and riffy and went to bed for a couple of hours after a shower in our very nice hotel. First impressions of NZ: - different plants and birds - nice houses - clean - got it's problems similar to UK (Rob) Later on in the evening we walked through North Hagley Park by the hotel - named after Hagley close to home!. Couldn't get over the fact that people were walking around in summer clothing, lazing around by the pool, sipping cold drinks. Trees and shrubs in full leaf - gorgeous colours and hues. Had our evening meal at Le Cafe - very welcoming, student feel to the place in a chilled out kind of way. Walked off our meal later by exploring the back of the city. Eventually sussed out where train station is after walking 2-3 miles via housing and industrial estates!
