If there is any city whose people celebrating Christmas without even knowing what is it with Christmas day that need to be celebrated, then HCMC is might be the place. Not everyone, of course. But many people only know Christmas as something making the city busier, more lights and of course more decorations everywhere.
And if you seen the light and effort they put on making the city brighter, then you will start questioning yourself if this city really is taking Christmas as something big or not. They even put a white cover on a 4 floors building to make it look like covered by snow. Even bigger than celebration of Tet (in term of amount of decoration and lights and the line of queue on any shops).
