Yogyakarta Traditional Wedding
February 16, 2008
This is actually my own wedding hahahahaha....so don't complain on me putting my own pictures. Was just trying to show how the culture in Yogyakarta. The bride first of all, have to wait home (nowadays we wait inside the hall we rent for the wedding) for the groom arriving with his parents. Then the two of them met, throwing leaves at each other 3 times (to show how they first met, knowing each other, took process). And then the ceremony leader (usually an elder woman), hold their hands and take an egg, putting the egg on the forehead of bride and groom as a sign of unification from two different minds/soul (and because mind controlling body then also unification of the body). Afther that, the egg returned to a basket, and the groom step on it. The bride then has to give respect to her husband to be, and cleaning the groom feet with water flower. Then the two of them holding hand, walks together to their seat behind a dancer, preparing themselves to welcome all the guests coming to congratulate them. Behind them following the mothers, and then fathers and then siblings and other families.
