Garrison. Campsite to the right through trees
Last full day here. Mixed feelings. Stayed on St Mary's as weather more unsettled and too windy to have boat trip round Bishop Rock (Plan A). Wandered down to Old Town via churchyards :S , tea shops :) & harbour beach :D. Old church very quant. Ended up at 'airpot' watching flights in & out. Fascinating. Bit different to Heathrow. Back to harbour beach for ice cream & searching for bits of crockery. Spotted Ted coming back from boat trip. Bought some agapanthus to put in garden for permanent? reminder of it all. Memorable last evening here even though it was proper grey & a bit blustery. Had walk round Garrison & stopped to watch the sea. Could see big seas out on outer rocks evern right over the top of Annet in the distance. Waited to see the pilot gigs racing round the head from St Martins in to St Mary's harbour. About 10 boats. All take it very seriously but brilliant atmosphere. We caught the end of it down in the barbour before the mad dash to the various pubs. They'd obviously all got their favourites & knew where they were going. Watched a grandad & grandkids crabbing off the harbour wall for a while. Why is there always someone to give a running commentary with a sill voice? I really love the atmosphere of harbours especially in the evening & if I live by one I'd have to have a little boat to potter around. St Mary's is an especially lovely harbour. We happened to find a short cut up from Port Cressan beach under the garrison walls through a tunnel up to the top
