Water sports tuition at Tresco
Bit of rain in the night. Very cosy feel in bed listening to the tap-tap on the tent. Something and primitive and smug about being able to be in the weather but not affected by it ......... until Gale Force 8 and thunder storm like they had 2 weeks ago here. The playing field we walk over to go down to town is full of chamomile. Must put some in the lawn at home. We took the boat to Tresco. Chatted to a couple from Truro
and met them again later in coffee shop at the gardens. He came over to check where the boat leaves from (different from landing) & to ask about the gardens. They'd been in but we couldn't work out at first if he was impressed or not as he sounded like 'Kevin' in his replies.
Idyllic beaches on Tresco
NOT impressed. Alot of money for not alot of return. We realised later that it couldn't have taken long for them to get round. It confirmed for us that we were right in giving it a miss. The unclutivated was far more interesting to us. We'd climbed up the nearest high spot when we came off the boat and watched everyone else follow the main path like a flock of sheep then all have to wait at 'level crossing' for the helicopter to come and go. The birds were eating out of our hands at the coffee shop. They were nearly a nuisance as helping themselves from our cream and jam before we'd finished with it. Found a nice gallery. Inspiring for Rob. Chatting to a family on the boat on way back. everyone else seems to have been here before - every year since they were born. Well, almost. And that's not with particularly brilliant weather. Apparently it can be very mixed as it gets the first off the sea but then it changes very quickly too. Much choppier crossing back to St Mary's. The couple next to us on the site are 20 somethings hanging onto the University life making up their mind where to go next. He's been here every year since he was a kid too.
