Matchbox 20 and Alanis Morissette

I was lucky enough to again win tickets from the local radio station to see another concert! This time I got tickets to see Matchbox 20 perform in Reno! Whoo hoo! The plan was to call it an early day on Friday and head up for a quick sushi dinner at Atlantis and then off to the concert! The unfortunate thing was the bloody weather! Every time I've had to go to Reno lately has been met with nice rain and snow storms, causing delays and some scary driving conditions (for someone like me who has never driven in the snow). :-))
It took about 3.5 hours to get up there but mainly because of the snow versus the usual backlog of bay area people headed to Tahoe for the weekend.
Got to the concert with only a few minutes to spare and the seats weren't great but they weren't the top of the venue either. Still hard to complain though since they were free! The face value on the tickets had we been able to buy them since the show was sold out was over $60 each.
The opening act was someone I had never heard of and I could never understand everytime they said it because the acoustics weren't the best since the concert was at the Reno Events Center. I didn't know until we were there that Alanis Morisette was also playing! She came on and did an hour long set which was AMAZING.
Then.....Matchbox 20 and Rob Thomas. Yiippeeee! He's so gorgeous!!!! LOL. They actually came on and played a two hour set straight without any breaks. I had seen them once years ago at a concert in So Cal and they are just as great as I remember. I didn't have my camera as it's bigger and I was worried about them checking at the door so I wasn't quite used to the one I was forced to use! :-( I got a couple good videos though....just ignore the Blair Witch similarities!!!
The concert lasted 4 hours and we went running out of there as our parking had expired and we were in a tow lot...the Friday of St Patrick's Day weekend!! Yikes!! After running across the few streets to get to the parking lot, we saw the people checking tickets only two cars away!!! As we jumped in the vehicle and quickly removed the prepay ticket from the dash, they brought out the boot and started locking the car next to mine!!! We were about 30 seconds away from having to try and find a room to spend the night!!! LOL.
We started to head out and thought we better check traffic again to see what the weather looked like through the pass. Yeah, well......chains required and well, don't have them for the company car!! LOL. $45 for chains and 5 hours later (drive is about 2 hrs normally), got home at almost 4am, leaving me about 5 hours of quality sleep before I had to be up and ready to leave for the winery. It was worth it though as I had dreams of Rob Thomas dancing to lull me right to sleep!! Yeah!!!
