Middle of nowhere...

The deck of the boat there!

Koh Phangan, the place for full/half moon partying, sex, drugs and drink. Well Hat Rin is anyway. So as soon as I got of the speedboat after 4 hours lounging in the sun on the deck I found the first taxi I could to take me as far away as possible to Hat Thong Pan Yai. Don't get me wrong I like to drink and have fun, but I can do that at home with all my friends. Whereas I'm on the other side of the world, where I don't know if I'll ever be here again and want to make the most of my 3 days here.

The Beach where the boat landed
Especially when I'm tired and grumpy after being on another overnight train with lack of sleep! (If there is one thing I've learned, it's to write of the day I arrive at any location after a long period of traveling!! Especially on the night train!!)

Hat Thong Pan Yai, is lovely, picture perfect with sandy beaches enclosed in hills and rocky shores on the corners, quiet, with crystal clear water and tiny beach huts alongside! Perfect for a quiet nights rest in the middle of nowhere. So much so that internet access is really expensive and when the hotel rings a tour company on the other side of the island they refuse to come get me because it's so far away! Only half an hour by truck! Thats far away! The middle of nowhere!

I stayed in one of the beach huts owned by Cosy Cottages, which also have available to guests it's own restaurant, swimming pool, kayaks and bar.

The road out of town
It was also quite central in the bay and you could see all the other bars and hotels also along the beach, so thought I would be able to at least go out for a drink later for some friendly chats. So I laid on the beach and began to read! It was soo hot though I had to keep putting my book down and dip into the cool waters. After burning myself on the beach I had dinner before heading to another bar, as the hotel bar was dead. Not a soul insight. It was after I walked by another 2 bars I realized this was normal! It was so quiet and secluded that there was hardly anyone about. I bumped into 2 girls whilst walking back to my hotel who said they were going to the Half Moon Party which is probably where everyone was. But I was still tired so instead made my way back to my bungalow for an early night as the next morning I needed to get back to civilization, not just for my sanity but because I wanted to do the tour so much the day after.
