Jerusalem, Israel
Headed out to Jerusalem this morning and stopped at a couple historic sights including Bet She'an Nat'l Park that was a huge excavated site of Roman architecture.
We had to travel through the West Bank to get to Jerusalem and that was an interesting experience since there are many Palestinians living there as well as quite a few Israeli settlements as well as many Bedouins. There were several Israeli army checkpoints along the way.
Jerusalem is the largest Israeli city with 700,000 (500,000 Jews/ 200,000 Arabs) living here. We started the tour by going up to Mt. Olive to get a view of the "old city". We later went to the Yad Vashem holocaust museum which was a very emotional experience.
Our hotel is the tallest building in Jerusalem and all of the government offices are right next door so I feel like a huge target staying on the 18th floor of the hotel.
Tomorrow, more of Jerusalem...
