Cairo, Egypt
Left Tel Aviv in the morning for a flight to Cairo. Cairo should be called Chaos. You cannot believe the traffic and disorganization. It seems like it's always rush hour. There are very few traffic signals and the police sort of control the traffic when they feel like it. When you cross a street, you are taking your life into your own hands. Drivers here honk and then hit the accelerator. They make 2 lanes of traffic into 3.
We walked around our Marriott Hotel located on the Nile and the surrounding neighborhood. This hotel has 1000 rooms and a casino. It has 6 restaurants and is built in a combination of Arabian and Roman architecture. It’s the largest hotel in the Middle East. We felt pretty safe there since all of the embassies were down the street and police were everywhere.
My sister and I tried the local beers, Stella and Sakara. Both were lagers and were pretty good.
