Tower at Bran Castle
Few places in Romania are more famous than the Bran Castle which is also one of the spots which is given the title Dracula Castle even though it is neither the old residence of Vlad Thebes nor the fictional character of Dracula. But the medieval castle on top of the hill still attracts lots of people with this marketing.
The position of the castle is really impressive up on the hill - but for all this marketing of the place as the highlight of Romania I can't help being a bit disappointed. The place is pretty small - and the decorations are far from leaving me breathless. The inside rooms are small as well and the furniture is not all as amazing as I would expect from a place which got a room inhabited by a king.
I think a lot of people end up leaving this place somewhat disappointed - sure it is a nice little castle but it is no way this can be considered as one of the best castle in the world to go visit - far from it.
At the bottom of the castle there is a little overlooked attraction. An outdoor museum with lots of old style village houses which have been collected from the country side and brought here. Judging from the snow which only got a few footprint only very few of the guests at the Bran castle go out here - but it is an ok place for a little wonder while you are there - and it is included on the admission to Bran castle anyways.
