Thai-Burma Jungle
Sorry
for the delay in postings - but we have a good excuse. We have been literally
in the JUNGLE for the past few days.
Mano, myself and our friend "Poj" had been vegetating in the sunshine
of the beaches south of
"Home Phu Toey" - a rugged, yet stunningly beautiful resort oasis, is
set high on a cliff overlooking the murky and mysterious River Kwae Noi,
meandering some 100 feet below. Each night we sat on our mountain perch, and
drank cool beer as we watched the bats swarm around the lights of our bungalow.
The frogs and locusts lulled us to sleep, and roosters woke us at dawn each
morning.
But before you worry too much about us "roughing it" and being
unsafe, we should point out that this is a LUXURY retreat in the middle of the
jungle. Our teak cabin also had air conditioning, hot water - and satellite TV!
And the ever-attentive staff made sure that we were always well-fed - with 4
full meals each day!
It was an "exotic" adventure to be sure. But along with our mosquito
bites and memories, we also return with very full bellies!
