Sydney TB meetup with KameraKurt
March 10, 2008
I was lucky to meet Kurt in Sydney on March 10, 2008. I asked my work in the morning if I could have a long lunch in the City and they said yes! So I met up with Kurt in front of St James Station and we crossed the road to have lunch at David Jones Food Glorious Food where he had a bruschetta and sparkling water and I had a chicken ravioli. We talked in between our bites and planned to meet up to go rock climbing or cycling. I told him we could hire a bike at Centennial Park and ride there but I had to look for some sights for the climbing. Anyway, we ended up going to the Blue Mountains the day after instead. So we finished up and walked to Hyde Park and watched the chess match (with big pawns that they move on a big chess board painted on the ground). Then we got bored with that and kept walking up and so I told him that I always wanted to go to the Hyde Park Barracks Museum, so we went there! The Sydney Barracks Museum holds artefacts from the European settlement of Australia or Sydney in 1788, so all the convicts and officials from England or Britain and their wares, hammocks, contracts, etc. I thought it was interesting to see those and not just in history books. It was $10 per person to get in by the way. Anyway, I was excited! Got some pictures! ---
