meeting friends, mini meet-up and scouting restaurant for düsseldorf meet-up!
March 24, 2008
phewwww what a stressy day today! stressy - because first and foremost it was ass cold! hahah it snowed earlier today and the weather was so undeciding - it doenst know what to do if theres sunshine, rain or snow.
i met one of my oldest and bestfriends - marcelo together with his bestfriend - kaity! its been a long time since i saw marcelo (profilename: ummarcelo) (last time was when we watched the film 300 and oggled :P hahahaha) and kaity (profilename: larubia).. oh kaity was very charming! a nice person, easy to talk to, funny and humorous and very lighthearted person - we clicked in an instant!
they helped me organize the restaurant thing in düsseldorf - since i dont look business-like if i talk to managers. hahahaha.
first stop: rheinturm - restaurant günnewig
entrance to use the highspeed elevator up to 170 meters - 3. 80 for adults. we went up there and looked at the venue - the view was so spectacular! that was düsseldorf's peak and düsseldorf's finest. the restaurant is of course circular and revolving i think 3-4 mins per turn. marcelo asked the waitress and she said they can accomodate 55+ people but MUST reserve within 2 weeks. now the problem is - since its revolving - the area is quite narrow - only 6 people can accomodate one table and we cant have a long table to accomodate more people and the tables are back to back with each other. so its difficult to carry a group conversation - but table per se - its very intimate to have a conversation and difficult to transfer from table to table to greet people.
second stop : trattoria zolhoff
a german/italian restaurant - i was so surprised! this restaurant has got to be the most friendliest staff ive ever encountred in my life! the maître d' personally came to us and assisted us of all our needs! and we got so many smiles from the staff and the waiter. thers a backyard behind the restaurant with 3 long tables - suitable for a big group - the ambiance is very very cozy and the maître d' gave us a menu packages for a group. but we must 2 weeks reserve in advance.
third stop: riva
this was the most unforgetable - the staff was the most unfriendliest ive ever encountered since i bought 2 euro sock in c&a department store! hahahahahahahahaha
and we also checked out the beach! marcelo and kaity thought it was perfect for after dinner just to hang there and drink booze! the beach yet was not to be seen since the rhein river is swelling of all the snows and glacier in the alps melting - but all in all perfect!
now people from the düsseldorf meet up:
decide which one do you want - rheinturm or zollhoff?
please send me a message or comment again.
