Day in Pitt
August 4, 2007
While I was out in Pittsburgh for four days for a wedding, I really only had one day to take in some of the sights. We decided to take a fenicular up to Mount Washington for lunch. After that, we went to Phipps Conservatory because we heard the glass artist Dale Chihuly did a spectacular exhibition. That was quite the case. The glass sculptures he created for the conservatory were amazing and fit in so well with the foliage. We took a stroll in the butterfly room as well. Even though I felt like I was being attacked by butterflies, it was such a neat thing to walk into - it's just a cloud of swarming butterflies. It was an incredibly hot day in Pittsburgh so we decided to go back to the hotel and cool off for a while since the sun was sooo hot in the sky. Around dinner time, we took a cab to Churchworks Brewery. And old church that was acutally converted into a brewery and restaurant. It was such a cool place to be in but, I admit, it makes you feel a little weird sipping beer next to where a pulpit used to be. A six pack to go and a pay per view movie in the hotel ended the day perfectly!
