SunTech City with 4 of 5 towers.
SunTec City
Our first destination after arrival at the hotel was SunTec City. This is a large shopping mall on up to 3 levels I think. The walk to SunTec City was our first real contact to Singapore. You can see that it is very clean on the streets. This doesn't mean that you don't find litter on the floor like cigarette stubs or something like that, but it is even more clean than in many other cities. At SunTec City you can explore many shops (the same shops like anywhere else too), food stalls and entertainment program. As the inhabitants of S'pore say, the best things to do in their city is SHOPPING and FOOD. That's correct.
Walking tour through downtown & chinatown
After the tour in SunTec City we continued with a walk through the downtown. We passed the Parliament house, supreme court and walked through Chinatown. Chinatown here in Singapore isn't very big but offers a high density of different shops. You can buy all kinds of gifts, food, cameras, (copy-) watches and much more. Chinatown shows a big contrast between traditional chinese and modern city. Suddenly, when you look up a small chinese house you see a skyscraper right behind. In Chinatown you also find air-conditioned shopping malls.
Dinner
Our dinner we took at the Boat Quay, with great view of the Singapore river and the skyline behind. The food was excellent but too expensive. Overall I have to say, that it is very difficult to find something which is not tasty. Eating is a pleasure here.
