My Trip to Venice

On the many trips that I have made to Italy, I had not had a chance to get to Venice until now. I only got a day to go see the city, but it was worth it. I got to see many of the sites and even got to check out some of the islands. It was well worth it to get off the main island of Venice and see the smaller islands. I headed out to the island of Torcello. This island is the oldest section of the lagoon and has a church that was first built in 625 AD. The food on the island was incredible. I had the best lasagna I have ever had and the best part was that I only paid 8 Euros. I then headed back to St. Marco square. It was interesting to see the sights, but the lines where to long for me to go into any of them. Everything around the square is expensive. Check out the back alleys and save some money. One day is not enough time to see everything. As I looked back through my pictures, I already decided that I want to make another trip to Venice.
One other thing, navigating the public transist system outside of Venice (when you have no clue how to speak Italian or where to even buy a ticket) can be very challenging. My friend and I just kept hoping that we where on the right bus and train to get there and back to where we were staying.
