The Joy of KISS?
Wellington was quiet on a Saturday. We had what must have been one of the best omelets I have ever eaten and drank coffee with fresh cream that was unforgettable. Andrew says everything tastes better in N.Z. as it is all organic and fresh.
I flew into Wellington with the rock band KISS. Along with Ozzy Ozbourne they were performing for South Island’s biggest event of the year..an Easter Hard Rock Concert. Someone once said KISS was an acronym that stood for Knights in the Service of Satan. (maybe it was a Christian conspiracy) but I thought it amusing that a group with “Satan’s” name would be playing on the day honoring Jesus Christ’s Resurrection! Life and Death always seems to go hand in hand!
The Joy Of A Son
The cab driver from the airport to Wellington was from Iraq. He told me how he had fled the war and how peaceful his life was now. He said he loved Americans (perhaps because I gave him a tip) , except Bush. I told him I was out here visiting my son. He choked with emotion as he said that he had lost a son in the war. I did not know what to say. I was afraid to ask if he was on our side or their side. As we parted he said: “ enjoy every second you have with your son.” .
It sure was great to see my son Andrew after a few months, even though he was asleep in the hotel room. They are so trusting here in New Zealand, they let him in my hotel room without an I.D. I planted kiss on his cheek and whispered “Happy Birthday.” It was his 20th birthday. He smiled and promptly fell back asleep. I thought about what the Iraqi cab driver said. Yes I would enjoy every blessed second I have with my son.
