THE JOY OF SYDNEY

Party in the streets

I had 9 hours in-between flights so I caught the train to the Harbor. First impressions: the Opera House always looks bigger in postcards; the Auzies are a friendly lot but proud of being ex-convicts, Thai and Indian restaurants are on every street corner and Starbucks tastes the same.

The city streets were relatively quiet,  all I saw were tourists, mostly backpackers which led me to believe Sydney was a laid back city...only to discover that this was Good Friday, which is a national holiday in Australia. I never thought of the Auzies as religious, they really aren’t but they sure are religious for their beer, parties and holiday’s. They even take off  Monday  day after Easter! No wonder they all say “good day mate!”
