My delicious banana pancakes, fruit and croissant. Did I mention I looove Alam Indah?

Ahhh - another gorgeous morning waking up to the sounds of nature.  This place is simply magical and beautiful.  It would be perfect if not for the bugs.  sigh.

For breakfast I had yummy banana pancakes and A had black rice pudding (very sweet and desserty).

V wanted to check out a high-end jewelry wholesaler called John Hardy.  It was appt only and she had been going through all sorts of hoops and hurdles to secure an appointment.  It was allegedly quite far so I opted to go with her with no intention to buy anything (famous last words...).  The hotel driver was supposed to take us to a taxi since the place was out of their normal range but he was kind and offered to take us if we covered his gas money.

Black Rice Porridge - A said it was really good.
We drove out not knowing what to expect.  Once we got there, we had to sit in a waiting area until our appointed time.  Then we were led into a showroom - a fantastical structure of bamboo and leaves shaped like a hull of a ship.  Then we were allowed to peruse the jewelry.  I'd like to say I resisted, but of course I didn't.  I bought myself some "bday gifts".  :)  While there we also met a Canadian jeweler who was there for a job interview.  She was very gregarious and fun - hope she got the job...

Afterwards our driver took us to Cafe Lotus - a beautiful cafe overlooking a lotus pond.  Probably more for tourists - I thought my seafood fried rice was just so-so; but V enjoyed her nasi goreng a lot.

Breakfasting.
While there, A found us and joined us for lunch.  They had massage appointments for 4-hand massages, so I walked with them towards the spa, until it got kind of ghetto and scary so I turned back by myself to finish up shopping.  Amazing how one's bargaining skills improve when forced - I only had a limited amount of Inonesian money to spend and the vendors were willing to lower their price to match that.  Then I made it past the Monkey Forest myself (believe me, I almost took a cab, but it was only 2 minutes away - that would have been ludicrous.)  I was very sleepy so took a nap on the veranda.  We were checking out today so I said goodbye to Alam Indah ... I'll definitely have to return.

J, C, V and A returned from the spa - based on their lukewarm responses I suspect the treatments were mediocre at best.  We packed up, stopped by a McDonald's (J has to visit one everywhere he travels) and then headed to the airport to return to Singapore.  So sad to be leaving this beautiful place.

Tomorrow - Ho Chi Minh City!
