the chocolate pudding cake
We both had the clam chowder, which was divine! My fiance had the New York Steak, which he said was delicious and I had the Pasta alla Monterey- sauteed shrimp, black olives, sun dried tomato and basil over angel hair pasta with some kind of garlic butter sauce- yum!!! All with local chardonnay. But we both agree that dessert was the best..... Chocolate Pudding Cake- OH MY!!! It was flour-less chocolate cake, whipped cream, chocolate sauce and vanilla bean ice cream- whoa!!!!! The pictures tell all and the tray of empty plates outside the room speaks volumes!!!! Now I need to run a marathon to burn those calories! We're off to Santa Cruz tomorrow to walk around downtown and visit some of our favorite haunts. Logos book store is top on the list! Can't wait! Now it's time for a food coma!
We've arrived

We arrived a bit early for check in so we had to sit in the lobby at the Best Western Beach Resort, which was beautiful because it has chairs and large windows where you can just sit and admire the gorgeous view of the ocean.
After a brief walk on the beach we are now eagerly, anxiously awaiting room service....more to come because I want to get pictures of this delicious meal when it arrives!!

Great rare book finds
Another favorite book store for us. This has excellent used books for amazingly cheap prices. I've gotten some unusual finds here. I am a huge fan of history books so I’ve managed to find some unusual and rare history books on the Roman Empire as well as some French language books that I would never find elsewhere. The employees have always been really nice and helpful. We have also never had a problem with finding parking as there are plenty of spaces reserved for the bookstore customers behind the shop. I highly recommend you head in for a good browse.
A great location on the beach
This hotel is RIGHT on the beach, walk out your room and there's the sand! We've stayed twice and opted for the parking lot side to get a better room rate both times and it was just fine. This hotel is easy to get to, right off the Highway 1, the offramp goes right to the entrance to the parking lot. We had a pleasant experience both times and would stay again. The only negative about this hotel from a tourist point of view is it's quite far from the sites: Cannery Row, the Aquarium, Fisherman's Wharf. But if you aren't there as a tourist, which we weren't, it's a good location.
