After Cape Reinga and a swim we can get some exercise. We drove to a place were we can go sandboarden. They give you a board and you have to walk up the hill, which cost you a lot of energy, and then they give you some instructions what to do and what not. So most of us went to the top and did enjoy the sandboarding. They took a picture of me when I came down. Yes, it is really me.
After one hour we had to leave for the 90 mile beach drive. You can not wait to long because that the high-tie will catch you.
They put a sign there and you have to take that seriously. The second thing is that you have a special bus or car with a fourwheeldrive and extra power. The sand is very soft and if you hold the bus for a while, you can not drive any further.
The ninety mile beach is not really ninety miles. It is actually 55 miles or 88 Km. I don't know how that can be possible. We had again a stop at the Ancient Kauri Kingdom for a coffee and I bought myself a speciallity of them: a carrot-cake. This stop was because they have a place were you can wash your vehicle after driving over the beach.
Driving back we stopped somewhere for fruit tasting. I don't know what kind of fruit they have, but most of them were very tasteful. Of course the meaning was that we bought some to take with us.
Back in our lodge I had a diner with 6 other people.
