The Capital Grille Atlanta

Atlanta Travel Blog › entry 9 of 21 › view all entries

At the suggestion of another TravBuddy member, I've decided to start a blog on Atlanta. There are tons of things to do here (and gazillions of great places to eat) so hopefully this will be of some use to those who wish to visit Atlanta! Keep checking back! If you are planning a trip to Atlanta, FEEL FREE to send me a message and let me know what you're wanting to do. I'd be glad to help you find you're way around and maybe even meet up for lunch or dinner while you're here! :-)
Went here for my 7th Anniversary and was very disappointed in this national chain that bills itself as "The Masters of Steak" on it's website. Ha - master of WHAT steak is the question!

Located in the Buckhead Financial District north of Atlanta's Downtown and Midtown areas just off of Peachtree Road (use of the word "Peachtree" in Atlanta road terminology is a whole lesson in itself), this location offers a very unique view of Midtown and Downtown from it's perch on the 8th floor of a small high rise. Typical of The Capital Grille, the entire location is surrounded by rich wood paneling, commissioned paintings of past city leaders and huge bottles of wine. To top off the testosterone level of this gentlemen's steakhouse, animals ranging from moose, deer and big horn sheep adorn the walls throughout.

Our appetizer of proscuitto wrapped fresh mozzarella was fantastic but unfortunately our tastebud frenzy stopped there. Lobster Bisque was full of chunks of lobster but had almost no taste. The Delmonico steak ordered medium-rare was still way undercooked and full of tough, sinuous fibers. Sides of creamed spinach and roasted oyster mushrooms might as well have been prepared by Stoufers and come straight out of the freezer.

$180 later, I was really disappointed in an establishment that comes so highly acclaimed. Do people really not know what good food tastes like - and think that just because it's expensive that it tastes great?? Please! I could have done much better with a steak from Whole Foods or Publix and saved myself $160!!

My advice: if you like wasting your money and think that food tastes fantastic just because you're paying a lot for it - knock yourself out. I think you'll find this place to your liking. If you don't, head on over to Logan's Steakhouse, Outback, Longhorn or other eatery and you'll save yourself a bunch of money and have a great meal at the same time.

I too hate overpaying for less than very good food. Great review!

Sorry about the bad steak! Thanks for the warning about this place, though.
