The Orient Express - Vinings

Atlanta Travel Blog › entry 12 of 21 › view all entries

At the suggestion of another TravBuddy member, I've decided to start a blog on Atlanta. There are tons of things to do here (and gazillions of great places to eat) so hopefully this will be of some use to those who wish to visit Atlanta! Keep checking back! If you are planning a trip to Atlanta, FEEL FREE to send me a message and let me know what you're wanting to do. I'd be glad to help you find you're way around and maybe even meet up for lunch or dinner while you're here! :-)
Partially located in a Pullman railcar from the 1940's, The Orient Express in the hamlet of Vinings in Northwest Atlanta does a great job delivering it's three stops of culinary cuisine.

Situated right next to the railroad tracks for CSX on their main north-south line into and out of Atlanta (perpendicular to NY Pizza Exchange on the other side of the railroad tracks - see my review), The Orient Express offers a great experience in regional Chinese food, great sushi and sashimi as well as habachi style food prepared right before your eyes.

The era of the 1940's and 1950's when first class railroading was popular in the U.S. exudes from the dining area for those choosing to eat Chinese food. While you can also order Chinese, sushi or hibachi in each of the different sections of this restaurant (each having it's own separate decor), you'll be asked upon entry through the old Pullman railcar which cuisine you'll be ordering and directed to that section by the host.

Chinese food is prepared in Mandarin style with selections from seafood and fish to vegetarian dishes. Sushi and sashimi are some of the freshest in Atlanta and prepared at the time you order. I've never dined at the hibachi grills before but I imagine the experience is pretty much the same as every other hibachi grill - lots of show and little taste! Lol.
