Brake Pad - College Park (near the airport)

Atlanta Travel Blog › entry 11 of 21 › view all entries

At the suggestion of another TravBuddy member, I've decided to start a blog on Atlanta. There are tons of things to do here (and gazillions of great places to eat) so hopefully this will be of some use to those who wish to visit Atlanta! Keep checking back! If you are planning a trip to Atlanta, FEEL FREE to send me a message and let me know what you're wanting to do. I'd be glad to help you find you're way around and maybe even meet up for lunch or dinner while you're here! :-)
Mostly known for being a bar by locals and regular visitors alike, this quintessential gas station make-over has a fantastic menu. Also a quick shot from the airport (no MARTA rapid rail station close by, sorry), you'll probably need a car to get to this one.

From the same people who brought us The Universal Joint in Atlanta's historic Oakhurst region, Brake Pad is another location that's been converted from an old, run down gas station on the northern end of Main Street in College Park. Guests that range from flight attendants and pilots, suited businessmen and a host of locals make this place a really easy joint to hang out in.

The food menu changes on a regular basis as the chef/owner tries to mix things up a bit. The hamburgers are a tried and true item for me, personally, as well as some of the more standard bar fare items like wings and fries. You'll also find an assortment of salads and entrees to fit just about every budget. But my favorite item at Brake Pad?? The ICE COLD BEER. Auuugggggghhhh. My favorite after a long week in the office!

Have a drink out on the expansive patio that's protected in winter or sit inside and enjoy your meal at the bar while watching the flat screen TVs. The very diverse crowd and staff are friendly as hell. Just like a neighborhood bar with a name like Brake Pad should be!
