ON THE GREEN ISLAND - welcome to Dublin
December 26, 2005
So we landed just as the very first sunshine tuched the earth on the 'green island'. We took our luggage and were about to go to the city. But the buses, which operate at the airport lines are so many, it took a while till we knew how, where and why. After some challanges with ticket machines we boarded a double decker to the city centre. We knew nothing, even where is the real centre nor where is the main bus station for national buses routes. So we went just forward. The first person - a gentle older irish man - we asked after getting off the bus helped us, so we were no more that lost as we thought. The irish capital had a nice weather for us as a welcome-gift i suppose, so we enjoyed the walk, brethed the irish air, had first look at the life of the city, and wondered with every step.
Since we got not as many time for a longer stay, we went back to the bus station. There were not that many buses in our direction at that day (holidays or so) and there were so many people trying to get on the bus which we were about to force. With some tricks we managed it.
Going through almost the entire country we had possibility to watch the life in all those small villages we were passing by and we wondered how green is Irland indeed! There were only middows and almost no regular fields there! It looked very nice and so much green even if it was middle winter!
We arrived in Ballyconel, then a cousin of Pamela (it's a nickname - but for a guy, not a girl at all, hahaha) took us over the irish-british border to Derrylin, where we were supposed to crash for a week :D
