I have now been just over a week in Ecuador, and 5 days volountereeing at the Rescue Centre in Tambillo..
I have swapped my corset, my mini skirts and my stiletto for waterproof jacket, waterproof ugly pants and wellies.
Instead of shopping at the mall, I pick up shit on daily bases, lots of it and all kind of it.
I usued to check my self in the mirror a good hundred times a day, now I have not seen my self in a mirror for over a week; my eyebrow are probably wild, like the rest of the animals i work with every day.
Instead of running to the bus stop and getting squashed on public transport, I walked in the wood, where thirty lions are waitin for their fresh water and bears cant wait a minute longer for their fruits.
Instead of goin clubbbing and coming back at 6am the following day, I wake up at 6, ready to scoop some more crap, and when we are having a late night, means we are in bed for 10pm.
Am I happy?
Yes! is bloody hard work, getting into the cages of the tiny coatis, and in the small aviaries, crawling into the ground to pick up crap, but life is just so more rewarding..
And the surrounding are just breathless...
I always wondered how people in the country side coudl be happy with their life, now I think it shoudl be the other way around...we are the mad people breathing toxic gases while walking in the street, not knowing the real flavour of what we eat and always rushing rushing rushing...
I m not sure I could swap my life for ever, but I do think, once in a life time everyone should have a little experience of what we do not understand...
