A celebration of life and Desire
My daughter Desire's first birthday. For those who know me well, you know how proud I'm of my little girl. I always say, she is the one thing I have done right in this life, if you do not believe me, you should meet her. Well I should have told tales of my journey leading to her conception, but those are details! She is the source of so much inspiration in my life and the desire to have her amidst the upheavals I had then was overwhelming. So here she is a bundle of love. For a mother, there is nothing like a little girl (of course if you ask me, I have no experience with little boys of my own, but I raised brothers and the excitement is trippled when it's a girl).
My friends, colleagues and family came together at short notice to help celebrate with me. Living in Uganda and having a bi-coloured child is like an attraction of it’s own, my friends invited friends of their own and soon I had a party of double the number I had invited; well they say the more the merrier, so it was. My boyfriend Don was very excited he bought all the drinks and made sure I had enough to feed the guests I had invited. Not many of my friends had children then, so only a handful of children were present, nevertheless Desire had a great time. Robert did an incredible job taking the photos while I played host and mother. At the end of it all Desire was so overwhelmed and tired that she went to sleep.
Happy Birthday Desire!
