Train Ride

We pulled through the forest, following the river, on the way to Silverton. The train honked its horn, releasing pollution into the wonderful, clean Colorado air. As we chugged along, we saw some of Colorado’s beautiful lakes and trees. We were on the Durango train, going from Durango to Silverton, and back.

After 3 ½ hours, we arrived in Silverton. We had 2 ½ hours to explore this wonderful town. We started off by going to the school’s playground, where we ate our lunch that we had bought from Durango’s Bagels this morning. Since we had had gotten up at 7 a.m. this morning and walked to the train station (about a ¼ mile) in only 10 minutes, we had extra time to go buy the bagels.

Anyway, we played at the playground for about 1 hour which was a lot of fun. After that we went through a bunch of stores trying to find sweatshirts for Charlie and Lia since they had forgotten to bring their own. The stores were cute and we were able to buy a few other things along the way.

After that we loaded the train for another 3 ½ hours ride. We returned to Durango, walked back to the R.V., had dinner, and then went to bed.

Today was pretty fun. I would not do it again but it was a good experience. I will write soon.
