Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorial

Ruth Ziolkowski, Wife of sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski, It was a rare treat to see her. The Native American Journalism Career Conference was being held that week.

After visiting Devils Tower we crossed over into South Dakota heading on I-90 towards Rapid City. Then south on Hwy 16 towards Mount Rushmore.  We are staying a few nights in Keystone at the Holiday Inn Express, it's close to Mount Rushmore. We got here late in the day and took a quick trip up to the monument. Got a few pictures before the light left. We are going back in the morning and then on to Crazy Horse Memorial.

We had the honor of meeting Ruth Ziolkowski wife of sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski. We were very fortunate to see her. She very rarely makes public appearences. She was doing an interview for the Native American Journalism Career Conference. http://www.crazyhorse.org/

We drove the Wildlife Loop Road. This was very nice drive. You see Bison, Prong Horn Sheep, Wild Turkey, Prairie Dogs, and the best part was seeing the wild Burros. This was hilarious....we stoped to take a few pictures of them and as soon as I put the car in park they came running over to the truck and stuck there heads inside the vehicle waiting to be fed. We stopped in the town of Custer and ate at the Wrangler Restaurant. We both had a buffalo cheeseburger and fries...delicious!!
