I took preparing classes for university studies in Bali. Stayed for 3 months and had a fantastic time!

Besakih Temple

Pura Besakih is the main Hindu Temple on Bali, also called the mother temple. It's a temple complex really, consiting of 35 temples dedicated to various Gods. It's the only temple where Hindus of all casts can come to worship.

The temple is located on the slopes of a mountain, Mount Agung. It's said to be more than 1000 years old.

Even though some of the inner courtyards are closed to visitors, you'll probably see some religous procession if you visit. An the temple is so big, so breathtaking, that even though you can't see every little part of it, it's no loss really.

If you have the opportunity, try to get there early in the morning, to see the sunset and experience it in quiet. Around 9 am all the loads of touristbuses are coming in, and makes it really fuzzy.
