A quiet day

Got the bus back to Lijiang, and managed to get a single seat next to the window this time. The views are just spectacular. Rural China is so beautiful. I'd never expected it to be so green. The fields and rice terraces are beautiful, and the mountains stunning. My guidebook says that the trip from Dali to Lijiang has the best scenery in Yunnan. I'd say it's amongst the best anywhere in the world. I just gazed out of the window for four hours. The 'human' scenery was wonderful too. Like something from centuries ago.
It took four hours this time, because anyone can ask the driver to stop if they need a loo or want to buy a drink. We'd only been going twenty minutes when someone decided they wanted elevenses. We stopped at a little stand selling Naxi pancakes -something between a pancake and bread, stuffed with veg. Then half the passengers decided they would too, so they got off and had a little snack. Then we stopped a bit later because one of them wanted to go to the shop. The other half joined her. I wouldn't make any connection plans based on Chinese local buses.
It was nice to be back in Lijiang, with no pressures to 'do' anything. I found out some info about getting to Tiger Leaping Gorge, had a nice meal at the Prague cafe, where a young Chinese bloke in a cowboy hat joined me for a chat, and then set off to find some shoes for the gorge, as my trainers are slippery in the wet. I found some fake Tevas to do the job for next to nothing.
