Back in Buenos Aires, after a fab 2 weeks or so in Patgonia.
lots to see but highlights were
Glacier Perito Merano, the face is so high and you can walk to about 300m from it
it is a rare glacier as teh wall at teh face are falling every 5 or 10mins so
we just waited for the spectacular which came regularly.
then did long trek 1.5hrs up the side then 5 hours in Grampions across the T
Top Middle it was incredible, but It was very sick, ( fever)
at the end it was one of the hardest things I had ever done due to so sick.
got back a 6 pm and spent next 48hrs bed ridden with massive flue / tonsilitis
( minus 1 hr to hospital for drugs)
get this Dr at hospital cost 15pesos thats in Aus $3.50
Ammoxillion and Paracetamol, at Pharmary (17peso) $5.00
boy are we getting ripped in OZ.
Other standout day was one of best days of my life,
treked for 25km up to face of MT Fitzroy
its about 13km up and 13 back but it took us 11hrs ( stopping and enjoying the view)
I left alone at about 8 am with food and water and various clothes for changing weather.
after about half hour, I caught up with a couple I met on a Bus
so travelled all day together , which really made the day better
as we treked we went up and down hills thru small forests, then across tundra
then followed riverlets and very small streams.caught up with some local woodpeckers
IT was incredible, we aced the day of the year not a single cloud in the sky
but even more incredible was only a slight cooling breeze, Superb.
