hold onto the mast like this...
So the past couple days are a bit of a blur, as usual, but I know something interesting has happened and it will come to me in a minute.... my highlight of wednesday was coming back from work and thinking that I hadn't said hi to my dogs recently, and saw that the one that who is always sleeping actually had his head up.  So I knew I had to stop and remembered that I had put my dog treats in my backpack the day before.  So I bent down near the dog and opened my backpack and the dog saw me do this, lept up, and stood directly over the top of my bag a few inches away staring intently at it the whole time I was searching.  I was laughing so hard it took me forever to find the treats, but it stood over me the whole time waiting because it knew something was coming.
but don't touch that!
It actually took the treat this time, which was nice, because usually it ingores it until I'm gone.  So then I felt that I should go say hi to the little puppy so I walked a few more feet and looked into the store.  It was in the very back but when it saw me holding something out it ran over as fast as it could, skidded to a stop with full tail wag and tongue panting, grabbed the treat out of my hand, and just as I was about to reach out and pet it, dashed away down the store.  The amused owners were laughing through all this and jokingly started yelling at the dog to come back and see me.  He knew exactly what he had done and knew he was in trouble, so he paused a few feet away and stared at all of us with the treat in its mouth gleefully as we are all yelling and pointing and telling him to go to me.
you want me to what??
He compromised by sitting down right there, so I walked up and gave him a few pets.  As I left the other dog had just finished his treat and saw me, and actually came running up to me with such big woeful eyes that I had to give it another treat.  This dog doesn't get up much so I felt sort of honored that it was specifically seeking me out.  Well, it was specifically seeking the food out, but thats ok.  I'm not totally sure what I did at work that day, but one of the higlights from the yard was seeing one of our favorite workers pulled up the mast to fix something at the very top.  He was so nervous but so excited and we were giving instructions left and right- don't put your hand here, hold on to this, don't untie this, etc.

He did a great job though and we found out that the quickest way to stop all work at the yard is to put a Thai worker up to the top of the mainmast.  He was shaking a little when he came down but grinning from ear to ear.  Yesterday I spent most of the day working on the prism covers, which was a bit of an adventure in the beginning because I was searching the yard for the parts I needed and running into dead ends at every turn.  One guy didn't think the covers had even been made and after I grilled him about where they could be we went to talk to Boomer, and as soon as they start talking the guy says look in the ___ shop.  And sure enough, there they were!  I don't think he was trying to misguide me, I just think something I was saying got lost in there somewhere.

And then trying to track down the primer, that was fun.  But eventually I found it all and Winston, Boomer, and I got a system going to put the covers on.  Today I had a fairly enjoyable day working all by myself in a quiet corner of the yard.  I had to paint over 150 pieces of lead of different sizes and it was quite fun to sit in the mostly shaded area and paint away.  I didn't even need my CD player.  The other random thing from this week was that yesterday the girls told me I had a hole in the back of my pants, and I was a little surprised to see that the small hole I had forgotten about a few weeks ago was actually quite large now.  So with lots of giggling and lots of Thai which I can only imagine what they were saying, I stood in the paint shop while four of them taped my pants together.

They seemed to get a big kick out of it.  And then today some of the tape had come off and they did a touch up job with larger tape.  Unfortunately I lost my other good pair of work pants so it looks like it's going to be tape patches for the next couple weeks!  My schedule has been off this whole week for some reason and I keep thinking it's a day later than it actually is, so I'm trying to have a quiet night in before work tomorrow.  I went out to a nice Japanese restaurant for dinner with the guys and they stayed out a little longer.  I'm not sure what tomorrow will bring, but as it looks right now we will be spending the night on the boat on monday and going sailing on tuesday!!  Woohoo!!!!
