Happy birthday Mummy :-)  Sunday was a pretty exhausting day for our day off!  I spent a good chunk of the morning catching up on emails (if I still haven't responded to you, I'm working on it!) and most of us headed out to a wood carving festival.  Apparently one weekend a year all the wood carvers set up shop outside on this one street.  It was soooooo hot it was a little ridiculous, but we made it up and down the whole street which was pretty flipping crowded (only Thai people, maybe saw one other westerner the whole time) and a bunch of us bought things.  Everyone else bought wood stuff, obviously, but I found a little china tea set that had the most beautiful hand painted pattern on it.  After a few hours there we went to the weekend market which is always a good time, and I saw a million things I wanted, but I'm going to have to devote a whole day some Sunday to go back!  So after walking around for like 6 hours (did I mention it was hot out?) and not eating anything all day, I was super excited for dinner.

Eliot, Winston, Careen, and I went to one of my favorite Japanese restaurants on Thong Lor street and I stuffed myself silly with soup, rice, and green tea.  It was sooooooooooo good!  Today was a bit of an odd day at work, maybe it's a Monday thing.  We had just gotten all set up to sand and I was just starting to get in the "groove" and was excited about making good progress today, when all of a sudden it started to rain!  And I mean serious, serious rain.  We spent a while getting the boat as tarped over as we could, which was funny in itself because myself and the Thai workers are not exactly the tallest people around, so we were all trying to hold up the tarps so they wouldn't collect rain but it didn't work very well.

So we propped a lot of poles up everywhere to keep them up high.  After at least a half hour of dumping rain it finally slowed down and the deck team went to find another project.  We ended up doing some minor sanding on some metal pieces that had rusted a bit before lunch, but later the deck was dry enough for us to continue sanding.  I ran a few errands at Tesco's on the way home, and of course got my favorite noodles there.  The guys here just ordered Mexican delivery from an internet site, so they only had to walk down to the lobby of our building to get their food and then they could come right back to their DVD!  I had an awesome surprise waiting for me when I got back from work today, a package from Bubba and Carla and Olivia!  Thank you so much!  And thanks for the mail Ali!  Hope everyone is doing well, keep emailing me and I promise I'll write back soon!
