Even though it's only been 3 days since I last wrote it feels like forever! At work on saturday I finished up a few oiling details and then got started on a webbing project. I was excited to have my very own project but it was my last day! So I took all the measurements and started sewing but didn't get very far because our new webbing is a lot stiffer to sew than the old stuff. So what would have normally taken me an hour and a half took me over three hours. I spent a good chunk of the day in the office fighting with the needle and thread, and found later in the shower that I had little puncture marks all over my leg from where I had been using it as a sort of pin cushion to push the needle through! Walking through the yard at the end of the day and realizing it was my last time was really sad and I was a bit unprepared for it.
all wrapped up for painting
I almost had a few tears there for a moment. I made sure to stop by the shops that I knew people at and tried to explain "me, go home" and make the airplane gesture (arms out to the side and weaving them around in case you couldn't picture it). The workers have all been so nice to me and I really enjoyed learning from them. I couldn't really spend much time on the boat because they were spraying paint as I left, but I said a few farewell words and took one last picture before heading to the crew room. Before dinner that night I showed the guys one of the "movies" about our trip that I've been working on for a while now and fiiiiiiiiiiinally finished, and it got some good laughs that lasted through our dinner at Outback.
Afterwards we had a few drinks in honor of it being Kevin's and my last saturday night in Bangkok
at pretty fun bar. It was really nice to sleep in on sunday and not worry about doing a million things in one day, because I had monday and tuesday too. So I had a relaxing morning around the apartment and then headed out to Serendipity to have brunch. I sat there for a few hours working more on my computer projects, long enough to have breakfast and lunch, and then ended up doing some random shopping and getting a pedicure. I thought it would be a nice treat to start out the summer with pretty toenails, but within an hour of leaving I managed to kick things with at least four of my toes.
last walk through, I thought it was pretty light
Oh well, I tried... I met up with they guys at our favorite Irish pub where they had just had dinner and were watching the Monaco Grand Prix race. I've never watched racing before but the part that I saw was pretty exciting so that was cool. I stopped by the Emporium on my way home to grab some sushi dinner, but when I got back to the apartment found that someone had thrown away my soy sauce packets! The leftover ones from my escapade last week. But in their defense they were only trying to clean the fridge so I can't really blame them. After dinner I stayed up for a while packing and cleaning and working on the computer, and then from midnight to two sewed the half of webbing strip that I didn't have time to finish at work on sunday.
one last picture
I would have felt bad leaving something unfinished, so that felt good to get done. And I made sure not to stick the end of the needle on my leg this time. Anyhoo.... this morning I slept in some and then set off to accomplish my to- do list for the day. I figured I'd try to get all the errands out of the way today so I could relax a little more tomorrow before leaving. First I went to HP where I dropped Boomer's computer off (third time's a charm?) and had breakfast, then I made my way over to Pantip Plaza, the crazy computer place. I cheated a bit and took a cab from the BTS stop on the way there. It was a pretty disappointing trip though, I was overwhelmed by all the stores and people and no one seemed to have what I wanted.
So after an hour of roaming through aisles and shops and different floors I finally gave up. Next it was onwards to Tesco, where I got some last minute presents and one of the things I'd wanted at Pantip, so I felt a little better about it all after that. Then I stopped by the apartment to pick up the two bags full of books and magazines that I'd accumulated over the past couple months and went to try to return them at my favorite used bookstore. Lugging those bags through the BTS and then to the store almost made me sweat more than I had at the yard, it was kind of ridiculous. But even more so when that store would only buy back two books (the others came from their sale rack). So I carried the two bags another couple blocks and up and down a few more sets of stairs to another store, who thankfully took them.

I didn't really need the money from them, I just wanted them off my hands! So much lighter I ran a few errands at the Emporium before heading back to the apartment. The guys and I arrived at the same time and soon we were off to dinner at my favorite noodle place. I knew I had to go there either tonight or tomorrow to say goodbye, and we had a nice group meal and I got my favorite waitress to show me what is in the sauce that I like so much. And I told them I was leaving tomorrow and showed them a picture of the boat, and I almost think she wanted to hug me when I left! It was so cute. It's my favorite place to eat, and I did go there several times a week so they knew me fairly well. Now it's time to finish packing and cleaning and start planning for tomorrow. I really can't believe that it's almost over.... but I'll save a sappy entry for one last one tomorrow before I leave.
