My hostel / hotel
After a good sleep and a breakfast I walked into Amsterdam to see a lot. Slowly I walked on the prinsengracht to see the Anne Frank house. But when I arrived there it was closed for maintenance. They are doing something with climate control. It was not going to open there doors before 1 o’clock.
I decided to walk to the Dam and see this first. I met Wendy there and we talked a little bit. She was going to meet Renske over there for shopping.
I took a tram to the Leidscheplein and had my lunch there. After lunch I walked again along the Prinsengracht to the Anne Frank house. At the westertoren there has been an accident. A bus hit a pedestrian very hard and he was moved to a hospital. The official photographer talked to me and told me that the pedestrian did not watch out and walked through a red light.
A lot of people do that. Now I have seen that it is very dangerous. That day I pushed every button and waited for the green light.
After this I went to the Anne Frank house and had to line up. There were already a lot of people waiting. But after 45 minutes I entered the house. Inside is was not crowdie at all, but the story what happened there does something to you. After an hour I left the building and I bought a little book that tells you a lot what happened there. I did not buy the diary.
After seeing this I walked along the “grachten” (canals) and walked through the “kalverstraat”. At 4 o’clock Johan called me were we would meet.
Wendy left, johan had tears in his eyes :) :)
I discussed this already with Wendy and the meeting was at 5 o’clock at the dam. I was there to early, so I watched policemen checking cars for something. Strange to see that. Johan arrived and a few moments later also Wendy. Max and Suat had to cancel, so the minigroup was complete. We choose to eat at La Boca, an Argentinean restaurant. Wendy was not that hungry, so she had only soup. Johan and I were going for a steak. Because Wendy had to leave this evening to Leeuwarden, we walked to the train station for an ice-cream. Then we brought Wendy to her train and had to say goodbye to her. Johan had tears in his eyes…..hahaha
Johan and I left the station and walked half an hour along the grachten of Amsterdam, till we arrived add the vondelpark. There we said goodbye and I left to my hotel again. This time I did find it in 5 minutes J. While I was walking Wendy called to tell me that she has missed her train to Leeuwarden. Bad news but what can you do about it. She had to wait for 30 minutes. I slept that night from 11 till 8 o’clock, because I was a little bit tired cause of the walking.
