Second day in Venice
March 18, 2008
After enjoying a lavish buffet breafast in my hotel, took the hotel shuttle to Piazza Le Roma - The Bus Station of Venice. It took around 25 minutes to reach Piazza Le Roma from where i took a water bus to reach my destination (Piazza San Marco). San Marco is a world heritage site and all tours eg Gondola Ride, Island Tours etc start from here only.
It was really a nice trip in the water bus and it took around 75 minutes from P.L.Roma to San Marco. The church there is really very beautiful with lots of restaurants, shops, and people around it.
took a gondola ride of 50 minutes, which was the best experience of my trip. then in the after noon enjoyed a pizza with some cafe in my lunch. and started the three islands tour- Murano, Burano & Torcello.
Murano is famous for its glass blowing factories and items made of glass, whilst Burano is famous for its Lace Works. But one more thing in Burano is eye catching, the houses. they are tastefully painted and look really very attractive.
Torcello is the oldest island and have some very old sites, which are now under renovation.
reached back San Marco in the evening and started back for my hotel. Took a water bus back to P.L. Roma and it was a very romantic scene in the dawn. :)
reached back hotel as i was to leave early morning next day for my flight back to delhi (india)
it was really a remarkable tour, and i really loved the cities i visited in Italy and people there.
