San Sebastian is very safe. You can walk at any hour alone and still be safe. It is very hard to find an internet cafe though :/ I had trouble with the map I was given and quite easily lost my way. Street signs seemed rare - sometimes just bolted to the building on the corner.
I got some bargains! Very good quality I'd be hard-pressed to find in Australia for the same price. The only downside was that most of the shops seemed to be closed, even on weekdays. They just didn't seem as inviting as some other cities.
I met some great friends one night I was staying there. We were very enthusiastic travellers, even when the weather kept changing it's mind. Had great fun hiking up and down the 2 mountains and buying steak for Ryan to cook for us (he is a chef). Aaron taught us a card game, which I can't remember how to play but we played for about 2 hours.
It was fun and therapeutic, but I'm glad that I stayed for 4 days. It as enough for me. I need a nightlife, which unfortunately San Sebastian could not provide.
