Headed to the Beach

Mid-April to Mid-May travelled to San Pedro Sula, Honduras to work for CARE Central America with other Michigan Business School Students. Our goal was to examine three business and evaluate growth opportunities for three business: Coffee, Bananas/Plantains and Passion Fruit. In addition, we felt it was important to evaluate the beach life.

Headed to the Beach

Our happy hour resting location where we would watch the sunset in Roatan.

After a few two plane rides on a tiny little play we were on the beautiful island of Roatan, Honduras.  Known as one of the three Bay Islands that sit off the coast of Honduras, this is one of the islands known for its scuba diving.  It sits on the edge of the giant reef that extends out from Belize to produce some great diving and some of the best opportunities to see sharks in their own habitat.  Unfortunately I didn't have time for SCUBA diving and stuck to the snorkeling.  Dae Sung went out for dive and said he saw some great fish, but no sharks.

The island was great. Nice and quiet with a limited number of tourists.  Unfortunately, most of the restaurant American dollars which means that they also charged American prices.  In general the language on this island was also English and the locals that were working on the island tended not to be super friendly. Still a great time on a beautiful island and I will definitely have to come back for some scuba diving before long.
